BPM/SOA Integration Working Group

 Mission:  Meetings & Contacts:
Our Mission Statement

The BPM/SOA Integration Working Group will define and promote industry consensus on best practices in integrating Business Process Management (BPM) with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). It will help to better define the roles of BPM and SOA as they relate to promoting innovation and business agility.

Why Integrate BPM and SOA?

As a group we believe that while BPM and SOA can both provide unique and important benefits to enterprises, it is through the combination of BPM with SOA that these benefits can be multiplied and enhanced. This working group is focused on promoting these benefits, better defining how the integration looks today versus where the industry is heading and how to get there.

With the future of the IT industry at large, requiring a merged relationship between business and IT it is important that we work together to bridge the existing gap in collaboration. In general SOA appeals to a technical audience while BPM attracts the business side. SOA takes a technology-based approach to creating an architecture that supports the capturing of business processes and extending these for new capabilities while BPM takes a process management approach that may or may not include technology

Together they can create an environment that brings together the technology requirements (an architecture to support a service oriented approach to process) and the business management of these processes to support continued enterprise sustainability and promote innovation.
